Clinical profile and etiology of children presenting with prolonged fever in tertiary care centre of Southern Rajasthan

Background: Fever is the most common complain of a child presenting to health care setting. A prolonged fever however, an intriguing challenge for clinicians and remains overly medicated inappropriately worked up, provided systemic approach not followed. Our study aims find etiologic diagnosis in these cases fever. Methods: The present was conducted tertiary hospital southern Rajasthan over period 12 months from November 2021 October 2022. descriptive, observational enrolled 150 children who were prospectively followed during their stay hospital. Each patient subjected set mandatory investigations by other as per diagnostic clues. Patients monitored closely course until discharge, at which final charted. Results: could be reached 138 patients (92%) (8%), cause remained undiagnosed discharge/death. Out diagnosed, 118 (85.5%, 78.6% overall) had infection 20 (14.49%,13.3% non-infective etiology. Conclusions: Infections are pediatric population - tuberculosis being frequent infection. Hematological malignancies found emerging our study.
